About
A composer’s journey through teaching, creativity, and the lifelong pursuit of musical curiosity.
Combining Music Education & Composition Since 2013
In 2016, after completing studies in music production and orchestration for film and television through Berklee College of Music’s online extension in Boston, I briefly considered branching out from my teaching practice. The idea was to write music for film, television, and other forms of media under the name Trevor Baron Music, which I had officially formed in 2013 as a division of my studio, Bach To Basics Inc.
It was a short-lived idea. I’ve always loved teaching, and I quickly realized that—even in the unlikely event of success in media composition—I simply wouldn’t have the time to fully devote myself to it. So I chose to keep my focus on my teaching studio, Bach To Basics Music, which remains my primary work and a great joy. Still, I wanted a way to pursue my passion for composing—something that could fit alongside my teaching life.

My Journey
In 2023, I expanded my online teaching practice to work with students across Canada, the United States, the United Kingdom, and Australia. Then in 2025, I launched my own publishing company, Up-Tempo Publishing, and began to revisit the idea of restarting Trevor Baron Music. This time, I focused on something that felt more realistic and sustainable: library music.
It wasn’t a direction I had previously considered, but its flexibility sparked my interest. Because I don’t rely on composing for income, I can take my time exploring this world—experimenting, learning, and creating without pressure. For me, this is a natural extension of the musical life I’ve already built, and this website is where I share that journey.
For the Love of It
After more than 25 years of teaching piano and theory—which I continue to love and have no plans to stop—I’ve found myself returning to my passion for composing, orchestrating, and producing music. Relaunching Trevor Baron Music gives me a space to explore this side of music more intentionally.
This site isn’t only about entering the world of library music—it’s about curiosity. Whether I’m experimenting with a new instrument, exploring an unfamiliar scale, diving into theory, or trying out a new production technique, composing has always been a creative outlet. Most of my music is written for myself, and I’m always pleasantly surprised when others connect with it. That support means a lot.
For my students, this site is also a way to show where music can take you—as a hobby, a profession, or something in between. While many people focus on composing for film and television, most of the orchestral work you’ll find here leans toward concert music, written simply for the joy of it.
